What is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle, Japanese energy-based practice. The practitioner rests their hands lightly on, or just above, different parts of the body in a series of positions. There's no massage or manipulation, and you stay fully clothed throughout.
Most people simply describe it as deeply calming: a rare chance to stop, breathe and let go of whatever you've been carrying. Some clients come for a one-off treat; many book a session every month as a regular reset.
What happens in your Reiki session
- A short chat. Emma asks how you're feeling and what you'd like from the session, so it's shaped around you.
- Settle in. You lie fully clothed on a heated treatment couch, with a blanket if you'd like one, in a warm room with soft lighting and gentle music.
- The treatment. Emma works slowly through a series of hand positions from head to feet. People feel different things: warmth, tingling, heaviness, or just very relaxed. Some drift off to sleep.
- Come round gently. There's time at the end to sit up slowly and talk about anything you noticed.

Who is Reiki for?
Reiki is suitable for most adults who'd like some quiet time to relax and unwind, whether life feels busy, you're going through a change, or you simply want an hour that's just for you. It's also a lovely gift for someone who needs to slow down.
Reiki is a complementary therapy. It isn't a replacement for medical care, so please keep seeing your GP about any health concerns.
